Sun Valley Floral's 23rd Annual Open House and Floral Design Show held on Sunday, August 1st was another huge success. It was blessed with partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures and this year's event was well attended by visitors from all over the United States. Tours of Sun Valley's extensive greenhouses, coolers, warehouses, planting, bunching, packing and shipping demonstrations were enjoyed by all. This year's theme was Creating a World of Color. The many floral designs were entered into three categories, California Designs, European Chic Designs, and Flashback Designs. The creations were judged by Darlene Montgomery of Redding, CA, and Guillermo Will Gonzalez of Ukiah who also demonstrated their floral design skills on stage.

Winners in the three categories were presented with trophies and cash awards by Lane DeVries, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Sun Valley Group.

Second Place: Meghan Sherman, Country Living Florists & Gifts (#16)
Third Place: Barbara Nalley, McKinleyville Ace Home & Garden Ctr. (#15)

Flashback Designs:
First Place: Christina Wile, Country Living Florists & Gifts (#22)
Second Place: Linda Overly, McKinleyville Home & Garden Ctr. (#21)
Third Place: Sherry Bogdanowicz, Fortuna Florist (#19)
